The open-air museum of Sirogojno and the charming ethno-village of Drvengrad are the places where you can feel all the spirit and the tradition of old times.

Itinerary

Day 1. Arrival in Belgrade

Arrival in Belgrade. Transfer to the hotel.
City tour with a local guide. We will see the St. Sava temple, the parliament, the Princess Ljubica’s residence and the Orthodox Cathedral (Saborna Crkva). Afterwards, we will have a walk in the Old city center, the Republic Square, the Knez Mihalova Street and Kalamegdan Fortress. We will see the Ružica church located in the fortress dating from the 19th century.
We will continue our walk in the district of Dorćol before going to have lunch in a restaurant in Skadarlija, the “Montmartre of Belgrade”.
This afternoon we will visit one of the city’s museums (National Museum, Nikola Tesla Museum or Ethnographic Museum).
Free time for a personal discovery.
Return to the hotel.
Dinner and overnight in Belgrade.

Day 2. Belgrade, Oplenac, Zlatibor

Today we will go to Oplenac where we will visit the St. George church which houses the mausoleum of the Karadjordjevic royal family.
We will discover the house of King Peter the First of Serbia transformed into a museum and dedicated to the royal family.
We will visit the Royal Wine Cellar founded by Alexander the First in 1931 and will enjoy a wine tasting. To end our morning, we will have a tour in the city of Karadjordjevic founded in the early 19th century.
We will go to the Zlakusa ethno-village where we will taste typical dishes of the region.
This afternoon, we will visit the Potpecka cave whose monumental horseshoe entrance is the largest in the Balkans.
Continue to Zlatibor.

Day 3. Zlatibor and its surroundings

This morning we will walk in the city center and the surroundings of Zlatibor located in the heart of the mountain. We will go by funicular on Mount Tornik (located at 1496 meters above sea level) where we will have a beautiful view of the surroundings. We will visit the Stopića cave of 200 meters long crossed by the Trnavski stream. Continuation to the Sirogojno ethno-village, an open-air museum presenting the traditional habitat of the region.
Lunch in Sirogojno.
This afternoon, we will visit the 20-meter-high Gostilje waterfall, which transform itself into a series of beautiful miniature waterfalls accessible by steps and footbridges.
Back to Zlatibor.

Day 4. Zlatibor, Mokra Gora, Prijepolje, Zlatar

This morning, our route will take us to Mokra Gora where we will visit Drvengrad, the ethno-village built by the director Emir Kusturica where he shot his film “Life is a miracle”. Then we will board on the train the Eight of Sargan whose route makes an “8” through the mountains landscape of the Mokra Gora.
Return to Drvengrad for lunch.
This afternoon, we will go to Prjepolje to visit the Mileseva monastery founded by King Vladislav Nemanic in the 12th century and which houses the famous fresco of the White Angel sitting on the tomb of Christ.
Road to Zlatar.
Arrival at the hotel.
Dinner and overnight in Zlatar.

Day 5. Zlatar, Uvac Natural Reserve, Belgrade

This morning, departure to the Uvac Natural Reserve that we will discover during a cruise. We will admire the griffon vultures, protected species and many other species of birds. We will stop to visit an ice cave. We will hike to the view point “Molitva” which will offer us a beautiful panoramic view of the meanders of the river Uvac.
Home-stay lunch.
In the afternoon, return to Belgrade.
Dinner and overnight in Belgrade.

Day 6. Belgrade

This morning we will take a cruise on the Sava and Danube rivers and will discover a lung of nature in the heart of the city. Then we will go to the Zemun district on the right bank of the Danube. We will visit the Old Town of Zemun with its Austro-Hungarian architecture and take a walk on the banks of the Danube river. We will see the Saint Nicholas church, the Gardos fortress and the old cemetery.
We will have a lunch of fish specialties in a restaurant on the banks of the Danube.
This afternoon, we will visit the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art which houses Serbian and Yugoslav works of art of the 20th century.
Return to the hotel.
